Product Description

Recombinant Murine Stem Cell Factor is a hematopoietic growth factor that exerts its activity by signaling through the c-Kit receptor.

Species: Mouse

Source: P. pastoris

In Vitro: This factor, termed stem cell factor (SCF), c-kit ligand, or mast cell growth factor, is the product of the SL locus in mice. In the mouse, recombinant rat SCF has been used to induce colony formation by marrow cells.SCF acts by inducing increasing numbers of CD34+ lin- precursors to proliferate in the presence of additional growth factors[1]. Stem cell factor (SCF) is a dimeric molecule that exerts numerous effects on a broad range of cell types by activating the receptor tyrosine kinase c-Kit. SCF is produced by endothelial cells, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, gut epithelial cells and tumor cells. SCF can act on hematopoiesis by stimulating the survival and proliferation of stem cells and progenitor cells. SCF is also crucial for mast cell proliferation, function and the development of other cells, including melanocytes and germ cells. Some tumor cell proliferation and invasiveness are promoted by SCF[2]. ED50<10.0 ng/mL, measured by a cell proliferation assay using human TF-1 cells, corresponding to a specific activity of >1.0×105 units/mg.
