Histone H4 is a protein encoded by the HIST4H4 gene which is approximately 11,4 kDa. Histone H4 is localised to the nucleus. It is involved in pathways such as DNA double-strand break repair and the mitotic cell cycle. Histones are nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. There are four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). Histone H4 is expressed in the liver, nervous system, eye, blood and intestine. Mutations in the HIST4H4 gene result in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. STJ97192 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using specific immunogen. This antibody detects the endogenous Histone H4 (Acetyl Lys16) protein.
